FZ and the band quote two standards from the first half of the twentieth century. "It Ain't Necessarily So" (0:10-0:29, 4:18-5:03) was written in 1935 by George Gershwin (with lyrics by Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyward) for the opera Porgy and Bess. "Saint James Infirmary" (0:32-0:53) was recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1928 and by Cab Calloway in 1930. It was credited to Joe Primrose, who actually just arranged a traditional song entitled "Gambler's Blues". At the same concert in Pistoia, FZ quoted Gershwin's "Summertime" in his "City Of Tiny Lites" solo.
[at the end (4:18-5:03), does FZ play two choruses of "It Ain't Necessarily So", or does he play one chorus of each song (as at the beginning)? And are these songs really this similar, or is it just the way he plays them?]
