~~~ Some Pachuco-like mumbling ~~~
From: splat@darkwing.uoregon.edu
  The first minute-and-a-half of Help I'm A Rock features some neat sounding babble by whom I can only assume is Roy. Several people, including Frank, are making strange vocal noises, but some of it sounds Spanish to me. The trouble is, I don't speak a word of Spanish. Are there any speakers out there that have picked up any meaning to the beginning of "Help I'm A Rock", or is it really all gibberish?
From: Roman Garca Albertos (donlope@distrito.com)
  It sounded to me like Spanish the first time, but I didn't understand a word. Later I listened carefully and... I didn't understand a word. I think it's like an old imitation I saw of Jerry Lewis talkin' in Spanish, like when you in Spain talk in English like "wachu wachu wa wa chuwebar".
Help, I'm a rock
Help,
I'm a rock
Somebody out...
Wow, man, it's a drag being a rock
I wish I was anything but a rock
From: Vladimir Sovetov
  Heh, it always looks to me that this song is pervert reference to Simon and Garfunkel 1965 ditty I'm A Rock.
I am a rock
I am an island
Don't talk of love
Well, I've heard the word before
It's sleeping in my memory
I won't disturb the slumber
Of feelings that have died
If I'd never loved,
I never would have cried
From: Biffyshrew (biffyshrew@aol.com)
  _Sounds Of Silence_ was the first album I ever got, and "I Am A Rock" was the main song I wanted it for.
You know maybe if I practice, you know
Maybe if I pass my driving test
I could get a gig drivin' that bus and
Pick some freaks up in front of
Ben Franks
From: FZ (TRFZB)
  In 1966 and '67, the L.A.P.D. and the Sheriff's Department went to war with the freaks of Hollywood. Every weekend people were rounded up (with no warrants presented or charges stated) as they walked on Sunset Boulevard, forced into Sheriff's buses, driven downtown, held hostage for the evening, then let go- all because they had LONG HAIR. The places where they used to eat (Ben Frank's on Sunset and Canter's Deli on Fairfax) were under constant surveillance.
From: Mike Keneally (boilthat@aol.com)
  Drove down the Strip tonight and saw that Ben Frank's, superfine Freak-Out Hot Spot mentioned in "Help, I'm A Rock", has been shut down. Another hunk of history bites the dust.
You know it's a drag when you're rejected
So I
tore the cover off a book of matches
And I sent in
