"Cosmik Debris" was introduced on the Petit Wazoo tour in October, 1972. It was performed on all tours 1973-1974 and all tours 1979-1988.
The lyrics allude back to "The Grand Wazoo" ("the dust of the Grand Wazoo") and "Camarillo Brillo" ("is that a real poncho...?"). The printed lyric sheet is full of imaginative spellings: nervonna (nirvana, a state of blessedness in Hinduism or Buddhism, from the Sanskrit word for 'extinction'), Afro-dytee (Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love), geroo (guru, Sanskrit word for 'teacher'), kristl bol (crystal ball, as used by fortune-tellers), ohm (om, mystic syllable used in yoga mantras), shonty (shanti, Sanskrit word for 'peace').
